I can't believe it's been over a month since I updated this journal! These past weeks have been both busy and hectic for me, so sorry about the wait.

Okay, catching up on stuff:

1. Re our last contest: congratulations again to all who participated! Yet another contest, suggested by the winner , will be in the works this summer. I'm still catching up from the last few contests, so I'd rather not plunge into another one quite so soon.
But keep your eyes peeled for any announcements!

2. I still owe some prize art to several people from these two latest contests, plus I still have to mail some prize items from the first one. I sincerely apologize for the wait on all that, since real-life (not to mention my health) often gets in the way. There are some of you who are to get some prize arts from our Ludwig and Matilda contest, but I've had no requests yet. If you're in no hurry, it's cool---SERIOUSLY.

3. I promise that sometime in the future I will update the Gallery for this place. Several arts submitted for the Von Drake Society ID contest were slated to be in the Gallery, but so far haven't all made it yet. I do apologize, and I thank you for your patience.

4. Speaking of the gallery: yet another reminder to PLEASE fave items at the original artist's page!!! It's plainly requested on the comments below the deviation (with some exceptions), so there's simply no excuse for not doing this. It's a good idea to get in the habit of reading the artist's comments, not just look at the pretty pictures. Unless it's someone I happen to be friendly with, I may simply delete the deviation without warning and re-submit it. Anyone can make an oversight; but if you're just too lazy to read the comments, shame on you.

5. I'm seriously considering getting a co-administrator, possibly two, for this place. I'm still kicking that idea around, though, so
I'll get back to you later about that.

6. If you'd like to submit a deviation for the club, (read this first [link] ), please note the Administrator here at
or at her original page. Also, if you submitted something and don't see your deviation in our Gallery, please let me know and I'll take care of that as soon as I'm able.

For those of you who entered our Ludwig and Matilda fanart contest, here's the day you waited for at last! Announcing: our winners!

One little complication, though--for the first time, we had a tie! Since I vote last of all, mainly as a tie-breaker or to assure that nobody loses (which is my policy here), I had to decide between the two entries involved. It wasn't easy and I wanted to keep an open mind, so I drew their names out of a bowl.

Also, some reminders to those interested in joining this club and/or contributing to it. (I'm putting it in bold type, to make sure it gets noticed...)

Please understand that I'm juggling a lot of activities, both here and at my page. So sometimes I'll overlook some things like requests to join The Society and other things. For this reason, I'm making the following requests:

1. A link to information on joining The Von Drake Society (and membership rules) is provided at the end of most every journal.

If it's not in one journal, it's likely in a previous one.

2. If you want to join our club, you must either send a note over here or make a request on the home page. However, I
really recommend sending a note because I'll notice it quicker than a user page comment.

3. Putting us on your watch list is not the same as joining.
Neither is your being put on the club's watch list.

4. If you have asked to join and you haven't heard from me after a week, PLEASE note me and let me know.

5. Please don't stress if I haven't put you on my membership roster yet. If you want to join, all you have to do is ask. However: see #6.

6. I reserve the right to refuse membership to, or block out, anyone who might possibly cause problems. Fortunately, such cases are few and far between, and most anyone can join who wants to. Nobody will be turned away regardless of race, color, credo, etc. etc. As long as you treat me, your fellow members and this place with respect, you are welcome.

7. Please read the author's comments below each deviation. If you are asked to fave/comment at the artist's original page, please do so.


8. The Gallery desperately needs updating, and it'll happen..eventually . If I've neglected to put up a member's deviation, please let me know and I'll remedy that asap.

Today is the 1st Anniversary of The Von Drake Society!!! Since The Society was first "founded" exactly one year ago, we've had 38 members and 11 club affiliates!

We've also had two contests already and are halfway through our third one. I haven't counted our gallery submissions (and some old ones need to be re-added, while a few got removed due to---uh, copyright issues ), but there have been quite a few of them. And on that subject, I have a little request to ask of members who have contributed artwork in the past (including contest submissions)...

I know I've already got projects out the wazoo, but I'm working on a little goody to celebrate The Von Drake Society's 1st Anniversary. For part of this, I'll need to use the thumbnails of severak deviations made for the Society. I know that I have permission slips from most of you who have contributed art; however, to all of you who have sent in art, I'm asking if I may use your thumbnails. I will absolutely, positively give credit and copyright where it's due, including links if you wish.

This project may take some time, so please be patient. But if any of our contributing artists are okay with this, please let me know in reply to this journal (that way it's on public record). Any permission slips that have been provided will be uploaded to Photobucket and linked as proof.

Please note: you do not have to supply art for this project. You can if you want to, but mainly this is featuring fanarts that have already been sent during our past year up to now. If the project isn't finished by the deadline of our latest contest, I'd also like to use the thumbs from the entries, if this is okay with all of you.
